Dr. Sarah Reynolds is Director of Infection Prevention and Control at NHS England, where she leads the national strategy for healthcare-associated infection prevention across acute and community settings. In this role, she oversees policy development, national surveillance programmes, and the implementation of evidence-based IPC frameworks across NHS organisations.

Prior to her national role, Dr. Reynolds served as IPC Lead at a large London Teaching Hospital for eleven years, where she built one of the first hospital-wide digital surveillance programmes in the UK and led a Trust-wide decontamination modernisation programme that became a reference model for NHS Improvement.

She holds a PhD in Clinical Microbiology from the University of Edinburgh, is a Fellow of the Infection Prevention Society, and serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Hospital Infection. She is a frequent speaker at international conferences and has published widely on HAI prevention, CSSD governance, and AMR stewardship.

At BioShield 2026, Dr. Reynolds will deliver the Day 1 keynote address: “Reimagining Infection Prevention in Modern Healthcare Systems.”
